A life time ago
We got all dressed up
And signed a document.

Some call it a license
But in reality
Its just insurance.

Insurance for when the
double Ds come calling.

George Burn said,
“50% of marriage ends in divorce…
The rest end in death.”

Death and Divorce,
Those are the double Ds.

That piece of paper,
That license that makes
This union legal –
does not make a marriage.

If this union
were thought of as a
business,
A LLC,
Or a Corporation –
It might actually have
A fighting chance.

Two equals
Joining forces
With purpose
And intent to
Build something
That will last…
Like a relationship
A family
A future
A life.

July 18th marks the start
of this 45 year old business.
We have assets
We have liabilities
We birthed a few employees
And have now settled
On a hill.

As what is ahead
Is slightly shorter than
Where we’ve come from,
We don’t celebrate
a day any longer.

Rather the life we’ve built.

Tomorrow the CEO
Of this corporation
will be fishing with
Grandkids at his parents
2000 miles away.

The CFO will be
feeding the livestock
And spending the
rest of the day
At the zoo!

45 years
Has brought us –
Challenges
Struggles
Achievements.

But most of all
It’s given us –
Life
Love
and
Happiness.
